Ardrossan shooting: Arrest after man shot dead in house

A man has been arrested after a man was shot dead at a house in North Ayrshire.

Police said a gunman opened fire after entering the house in Nithsdale Road, Ardrossan, at about 16:50 on Sunday.

A 42-year-old man died shortly afterwards from his injuries. A 46-year-old woman was also in the house, but was not injured.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said a 42-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the shooting.

“Inquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances of what happened,” the spokesperson added.
